Jardine Provided Online Training to “Operation Zhang Qian 2022” Interns

Maritime Silk Road Society (MSRS) organized an online training session entitled “Making the most of internship” for the interns of “Operation Zhang Qian 2022” on 7 July. The training session was delivered by Ms Anna Champion, Head of Early Careers and Ms Donna Titley, Senior Manager of Early Careers of Jardine Matheson Limited who guided interns on how to learn and plan during the internship and apply them in the future workplace. Prior to the training, Ms Regina Ip, Co-Chair of MSRS presented her vote of thanks to the participating companies of this year’s internship scheme, and in particular to Jardine for providing the interns with an additional learning opportunity, as well as briefly introducing the implementation of “Operation Zhang Qian”.

Ms Champion first shared with interns the difference between interns and employees, hoping that the interns could get to know more about themselves and whether the internship job was suitable for them. Then she mentioned how the interns could prepare for the training and gave them a complete picture of an internship.

Ms Champion then imparted advice to the interns, encouraging them to be proactive, curious and inquisitive. She also recommended they build their own “Personal Brand” in order to make themselves stand out as unique individuals. Ms Titley raised an example of a Korean pop group who used these five characteristics in building their Personal Brand.

Finally, Ms Champion encouraged the interns to express themselves and utilize their talents during the internship period. She felt confident that the interns would, following the internship, understand more about their own strengths and weaknesses, develop their talents, attain self-improvement, and learn a lot from their internship - namely the duties of their posts, which would help them decide on their future career.
