A Brand New Experience in Greece

As an international relations major, I am more than elated to be part of this internship programme and receive a precious opportunity to get to know more about the current developments in Greece as well as its relationship with the European Union. I have also improved my language and communication skills through translating clients’ inquiries and relaying them to the sales and marketing team.
The six weeks in Athens were enlightening and intriguing. Firstly, as a Greek-mythology lover, seeing ruins of temples and historical sites which stood there for thousands of years and bore testimony to the history of Greece touched my heart. Athens has a seamless blend of ancient temples and modernity. The Acropolis of Athens and many other monuments were quite well-preserved by the Acropolis museum. The attempt of restoring these ancient relics to their original states is certainly a praise-worthy initiative.
Secondly, the atmosphere there was tranquil. As we all know, the pace of work in Hong Kong is very fast so people work overtime to get things done while Greek people take things easy. On a sunny weekday afternoon, they would rather have a cup of cappuccino and chit-chat with friends instead of burying themselves in work.
Lastly, foodwise, you will not be able to resist the temptation of the delectable classic Greek dishes – souvlaki and moussaka in town!
Not only has this short stay in Greece enabled me to explore new opportunities, it has also enhanced my personal growth and widened my horizon.
