Thoughts on “the Belt and Road Initiative” Policy

During the first week, it was the lack of social interaction that puzzled me. The working hours in the Djibouti office are 8:00am to 1:30pm, so there was much free time in the afternoon. When the staff were busy working, I was by myself most of the time in the first week. I felt very uneasy as I was usually very tense and anxious in Hong Kong’s fast-paced environment.

I realized blaming the circumstances was the least effective measure to improve the situation. So I took the chance to mingle with the Vice Presidents and mentors actively during the site visits to Port de Djibouti and Doraleh New Port, plus our trip to Lake Assal.

Our job was pretty simple for most of the time which involved summarizing a hundred-page report and translating documents. I thought these were the best duties we could get given our short stay in Djibouti and the learning value of reading these reports.
