2025-04-23

On 23 April, the Maritime Silk Road Society organized a visit to the PLA Hong Kong Garrison Exhibition Center with a lunch gathering. The event aimed to enhance understanding of the work and contributions of the Hong Kong Garrison, deepen insights into national history and military achievements, and foster patriotism while increasing awareness and respect for the troops stationed in Hong Kong. It is also worth mentioning that the event date coincided with the 76th anniversary of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy Day.

After enjoying a dim sum lunch at a restaurant in Tsuen Wan, participants took the shuttle bus to the PLA Hong Kong Garrison Exhibition Center. A military officer took up the role of a docent and began the tour with an introduction of the main hall where visitors could appreciate significant national symbols such as the flag, anthem, emblem and territorial map of the People's Republic of China. This exhibition area served as an engaging starting point for an initial understanding of the country's history and culture.

The group visited the "Chinese Dream" exhibition hall, which displayed over 1,100 photographs and 150 artifacts, highlighting the glorious civilization of the Chinese nation and the remarkable achievements under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. Through these exhibits, visitors gained a deeper understanding of China's developmental journey and future aspirations.

After that, the docent led the visitors to the "Strong Army Dream" exhibition hall, which emphasized the victories of the People's Army under the Party's leadership. Visitors could feel the fighting spirit of the armed forces and their vital role in national security.

The visitors then arrived at the "Guardians of Hong Kong" exhibition hall. The docent’s detailed explanations provided insights into the practices of the Hong Kong Garrison under the "One Country, Two Systems" principle. This experience allowed visitors to appreciate the importance of maintaining Hong Kong's long-term prosperity and stability, along with a sense of mission from the military.

Finally, visitors proceeded to the equipment model display area which showcased over 90 models of various People's Liberation Army equipment, illustrating the latest achievements in national defense technology in the new era.

At the end of the tour, all visitors received a stamped bookmark as a souvenir. The entire visit enabled participants to have a deeper understanding of the country's military development while inspiring hope for the future.
