Intercultural Institute of Lefkada from Greece Visited MSRS

On 20 November, Mrs Ioanna Filippa, President of the Intercultural Institute of Lefkada, and her team visited Hong Kong to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Maritime Silk Road Society (MSRS). The team also consists of Ms Margaret Ann Landon, member of the Administrative Board of the Intercultural Institute of Lefkada, and Mr Thanasis Koutsaftisa who is a student of the Musical School of Lefkada.
The MOU focuses on the introduction of Chinese culture and language in Greece through joint cooperation, the promotion of the “Belt and Road” Initiative, and the possibility of organizing an educational trip to Hong Kong in 2025. Under the framework of the MOU, the Institute will organize an annual Maritime Silk Road Chinese School in summer, as well as Chinese calligraphy workshops on a regular basis.
In the afternoon, the team met with Mrs Regina Ip, Co-Chair of MSRS, at the Legislative Council. During the meeting, Mrs Ip learned about the latest development of the Intercultural Institute, including some 100 registrants applying for the Chinese class in the next intake, organizing regular Chinese calligraphy course and the demonstration of Chinese cooking.
Mrs Filippa is engaged by MSRS as a Cultural Consultant in mid-2024 to enhance cultural exchange and disseminate projects between Hong Kong and Greece with a view to further promoting the “Belt and Road” Initiative through the continuation of the Chinese Summer School and cultural activities in Lefkada.
