MSRS Organized Its First "Belt & Road: Malaysia Business and Trade Tour"

Maritime Silk Road Society (MSRS) organized the "Belt & Road: Malaysia Business and Trade Tour" from 10 to 14 March leading participants to visit various industries and start-ups in Malaysia, so as to enable them to understand the economic and agricultural development of Malaysia and explore opportunities through exchange with local practitioners.
With Dr Charles Ng, Vice-chair (Entrepreneur) of the Youth Opportunities Committee of MSRS as the leader, the delegation comprised 26 participants including university students from Hong Kong and Kazakhstan, small and medium-sized enterprise entrepreneurs from Hong Kong, Macao and the Mainland. During the five-day tour, members visited and met with companies and factories in Malaysia to gain a practical understanding of the development and prospects of the food industry, manufacturing industry and start-ups. Members also visited selective local attractions to obtain a unique cultural experience.
The food industry, manufacturing companies and start-ups that the participants visited included Wing Heong Dried Meat Factory, a family-owned company that makes pork jerky by traditional handmade methods; Fragrance Note Aroma Sdn Bhd aroma factory, a family-owned company that produces essential oils for aromatherapy and incense using pure and natural raw materials; MM Doors Sdn Bhd Door manufacturing factory, which makes wooden doors by special wood treatment techniques; and Clique Clinic, a skincare and aesthetic clinic that provides professional medical and beauty services to its customers. Participants also met with Horizon Star Global to learn about the production, processing and distribution of bird's nests.
In addition, participants visited special attractions in Malaysia, including the Putra Mosque (Pink Mosque), Alor Food Street, Dking Durian flagship store, Kuala Selangor firefly view, Independence Square, Beryl's Chocolate Museum, Taman Warisan Pertanian (Agriculture Heritage Park), classical colonial buildings in Ipoh's old town, Black Wind Cave and Petronas Twin Towers. At the Agricultural Heritage Park, participants had a hands-on experience in cutting rubber trees and collecting latex. At the end of the trip, the delegates reflected that the itinerary was rich and compact and the they benefited from the detailed introduction and explanations given by the specialists and tour guides.
