"B&R and Guizhou" Technological and Cultural Exploration

The Maritime Silk Road Society (MSRS) organized the "B&R and Guizhou" Technological and Cultural Exploration’ tour from 25 to 29 December, taking a group of secondary and university students to Guizhou to visit Guizhou’s technological infrastructure, historical and cultural attractions, enabling them to have a deeper understanding of China’s latest circumstances, history, technological and social development.

The cultural tour was sponsored by the Funding Scheme for Youth Exchange in the Mainland of the Youth Development Commission. The five-day itinerary included visits to the Guizhou Big Data Comprehensive Experimental District Exhibition Center, Site of the Zunyi Conference, Moutai Chinese Liquor Culture City, Huangguoshu Waterfall Area (Grand Waterfall, Water Curtain Cave and Doupotang Waterfall), Bridge Museum, China Sky Eye (FAST), Pingtang International Astronomical Experience Hall, the Father of China Sky Eye "Nan Rendong" Memorial Hall, Guiyang Jiaxiu Pavilion, Qingyun Road (famous on the Internet), and the Geological Museum of Guizhou. The itinerary was enriched by the introduction and explanation by docents as many students expressed that they have benefited a lot from the tour.

MSRS expressed its special thanks to Mr Wang Zhili, Deputy Curator of the Site of the Zunyi Conference, for giving participants a special lecture on the history of modern China. He introduced a few significance conferences before and after the Zunyi Conference, supplemented with the details of the war at that time, analyzed the Battle of Xiangjiang in details with subjective and objective reasons for the defeat. He concluded his presentation with the spirit of the Zunyi Conference and its contemporary values which include firm beliefs, adherence to the truth, pursuit of independence, and unity and solidarity. The talk helped students to gain a better understanding of the history and provided insight on the Zunyi Conference
