MSRS 2021 Annual General Meeting

The 2021 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Maritime Silk Road Society (MSRS) was held on 24 November to adopt the minutes of 2020 AGM and to receive the 2020-2021 reports of the Executive Committee. For the second time, the AGM was held in both online and physical mode. The meeting was attended by advisors, office bearers and members of the Society.

Mrs Regina Ip, Co-Chair of MSRS addressed the AGM with her welcoming remarks and reported on MSRS activities, including seminars and major meetings. She mentioned that “Operation Zhang Qian — Undergraduate Summer Internship Programme” and “New Youth Management Trainee Programme” would be forged ahead with more youth-focused activities in future, exploring new opportunities and promoting the BRI.  Mr Bernard Chan, Co-Chair reported on the youth works and cultural activities. He mentioned that internship trainings could be continued by his hotel in Thailand next summer when circumstances permit. Dr Louis Shih, Co-President reported on MSRS affairs and mentioned about the growth in the number of MSRS members despite the pandemic. Ms Eunice Yung, Vice-Chair of the Youth Opportunities Committee, reported on the 2021 “Operation Zhang Qian” online training and the webinar on Expo 2020 Dubai.  Ms Fu Wenjing, Chair of the New Youth Management Trainee Programme Steering Committee, hoped that the Trainee Programme could be reactivated in 2022. Ms Fu also encouraged the exchange between Hong Kong and Hainan Free Trade Port.

Mr Alex Wong, CEO of MSRS, reported on the external development of the MSRS and youth activities. Ms Wendy Tsang, Executive Director, presented the 2020-2021 report on the Financial Statement of MSRS.
