Visit to Hong Kong Sea School

2026-03-04

On 4 March, Maritime Silk Road Society and Hong Kong Public Archaeological Society jointly organized a visit to Hong Kong Sea School (HKSS). Mr Joseph Li, Administrative Director of HKSS and his team conducted a tour of the campus to introduce the school's facilities, ship simulation driving experience and maritime virtual reality training.

In his address, Director Li said that HKSS provides development opportunities and pathways for young people aspiring to work in the shipping industry and disciplined services, enabling them to become the driving force for the new generation of development in Hong Kong. He added that HKSS preserves maritime traditions, enabling the passion for the ocean to be carried on within the school, cultivating a spirit of hard work, perseverance, and daring to venture out into the world for its students.

With the arrangement by Mr Jack Wu, Chairman, Hong Kong Underwater Archaeological Association, a professional diving team demonstrated a spectacular underwater rescue operation at sea.

The visit was followed by presentations on archaeology by Dr Peter Wong, Secretary of Archaeologist of Hong Kong Public Archaeological Society and Mr Jack Wu, Chairman, Hong Kong Underwater Archaeological Association. The presentations demonstrated how land and underwater archaeology has become an important part of Hong Kong's history.

In the evening, participants proceeded to the CSD Officers’ Club for a dinner gathering.
