Mrs Regina Ip Led a Delegation to Visit GX Foundation

2026-02-26

On 26 February, Mrs Regina Ip, Convenor of Executive Council and Co-Chair of Maritime Silk Road Society (MSRS), led a delegation of 60 members to visit GX Foundation Global Headquarters to have an understanding of the vision and mission of the organization. The delegation was received by Mr Leung Chun-ying, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC and GX Chairman. The delegation consisted mainly of young members of MSRS and the New People’s Party.

Mr Leung gave an introduction of GX Foundation, including its history and objectives. He stated that President Xi Jinping's “Global Governance Initiative” quickly garnered positive responses from over 150 countries and international organizations. The key points of the initiative include upholding sovereign equality, adhering to international rule of law, practicing multilateralism, and advocating a people-centred approach.

He pointed out that after eight years of unremitting efforts, the GX Foundation is currently in the mid-to-long-term development stage, with its long-term goal encompassing “participation in global governance”, and its work fully aligning with the “global governance concept of consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits”.

During the visit, visitors learned that GX’s global headquarters, located at No. 4 Hospital Road, is a century-old historic building in Hong Kong’s Central and Western District. Built in 1921, the building has undergone multiple transformations over the past century, having served as dormitories for sanitation workers, government offices, among other uses, before being designated as a Grade II historic building in 2010. While preserving its original architectural features, GX plans to endow the building with a new humanitarian mission, creating a base that combines office functions with community education. It now serves as a learning platform for the community and youth to engage with international medical humanitarian aid work, promoting deeper international cooperation and exchange.
