The Consul-General of Uruguay in Hong Kong Paid a Courtesy Call to MSRS

The Consul-General of Uruguay in Hong Kong, Mr Federico Lage, paid a courtesy call to the Maritime Silk Road Society (MSRS) on 8 December to foster mutual understanding and explore collaborative opportunities between two offices.
Mr Federico Lage took up his new post in Hong Kong to coincide with the establishment of the Consulate-General of Uruguay in Hong Kong in April 2025.
During his visit, Consul-General Lage recalled that China and Uruguay upgraded their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership in November 2023 as both countries pledged to enhance bilateral cooperation in a wider range of fields particularly under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. These would cover fields of trade and investment, the digital economy, green development, agriculture, health, education, culture, sci-tech innovation, etc.
Consul-General Lage highlighted that logistics in Uruguay is a state policy and is a key to economic and social development and concluded that similar to Hong Kong, Uruguay is a vital hub for the movement of goods and a reliable distribution centre.
