MSRS 2024 Annual General Meeting

The 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Maritime Silk Road Society (MSRS) was held on 17 December to adopt the minutes of 2023 AGM and to receive the 2023-2024 reports of the Executive Committee. The meeting was attended by advisors, office bearers and members of the Society.
Mrs Regina Ip, Co-Chair of MSRS addressed the AGM with her welcoming remarks. She thanked the advisors and executive committee members who attended the AGM in person, including Mr Lam Kwong Siu, Mr Joseph Chan and Mr Suen Kwok Lam, the representative of Dr Peter Lee Ka-kit. She reported on MSRS key activities, including “Belt and Road Forum - Digital Economy & Payment Settlement”, jointly organized by the Ng Teng Fong· Sino Group Belt and Road Research Institute of the Hong Kong Chu Hai College, the Silk Road Economic Development Research Center and the Maritime Silk Road Society. Mr Bernard Chan, Co-Chair reported on the cultural, historical and archaeological activities held in M+ Museum and JC Cube, Tai Kwun. Dr Louis Shih, Co-President spoke on activities related to environmental issues and membership status. Mr Roland Wong, Vice-Chair (Development) of the Youth Opportunities Committee (YOC), reported on “Operation Zhang Qian — Undergraduate Summer Internship Programme” 2024. Dr Charles Ng, Vice-Chair (Entrepreneur) of YOC, highlighted the "Belt & Road: Malaysia Business and Trade Tour" initiated and led by him.
Mr Alex Wong, CEO of MSRS, reported on the external development of the MSRS programmes. Ms Wendy Tsang, Executive Director, presented the 2023-2024 report on the Financial Statement of MSRS.
Toward the end of the AGM, Mrs Regina Ip announced the establishment of the Infrastructure Committee to acknowledge the importance and achievements of infrastructure in the Mainland and the countries along the BRI regions. Mr Chen Jingwei was appointed the Chair and Ms Judy Chan, a member of the Legislative Council was the Vice-chair.
