MSRS Announced the Establishment of “Infrastructure Committee”
2024-12-17
The “Infrastructure Committee” of the Maritime Silk Road Society (MSRS) was formally established at the 9th Annual General Meeting on 17 December. Mr Chen Jingwei accepted the invitation to be the Chair of the Committee and Ms Judy Chan, a member of the Legislative Council, as Vice-chair.
In 2013, President Xi proposed to jointly build “The Silk Road Economic Belt” in Kazakhstan and “The 21st Century Maritime Silk Road” in Indonesia. With its strong infrastructure resources, China expressed interest in assisting other countries to jointly develop and build infrastructure networks. One of the most successful infrastructure projects was the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, which encompass the port of Gwadar and provided access to Xinjiang.
The "Belt & Road" initiative (BRI) has been in place for more than a decade now, and China has continued to promote infrastructure development with other countries. The co-operation between the countries and regions along the Silk Road Economic Belt and the Maritime Silk Road has achieved great success. In line with the BRI, the MSRS has decided to establish the “Infrastructure Committee” and is honoured to have Mr Chen Jingwei as the Chair of the Committee and Ms Judy Chan, a member of the Legislative Council, as Vice-chair.
Mr Chen Jingwei is a professional in water engineering and is willing to contribute to the development of water conservancy for the country. He is also the Permanent Honorary President of Southern District Community Association and the President of the Southern District Community Care and Development Fund. He has made a lot of contributions to the community through his passion for public welfare.
