Visit to Container Ship, COSCO OCEANIA

On 14 January, around 30 members of the Maritime Silk Road Society visited the COSCO Shipping Container Line Agencies Ltd, and learned about the operation of the company and Hong Kong shipping industry. Then they boarded the container ship, COSCO OCEANIA, and visited different parts of the vessel, including cabins, a mess room, a galley, a recreation room, etc. At the end of the visit, they were invited to the wheelhouse at the navigation bridge deck and had a dialogue with the captain to share his working experience and knowledge in the operations of ports and terminals.
Hong Kong is not only an important city of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, it is also a modern international shipping centre. Only a few people have the chance to visit Hong Kong’s container terminals and go on board one of these vessels. The Maritime Silk Road Society was honoured to be provided with the rare opportunity for its members to gain the first-hand experience to visit a container ship.
