CR Group is a famous state-owned enterprise. With large number of departments and staff, I was assigned to work with the recruitment team of the human resources department - screening resumes, liaising with the candidates, conducting the first and second interviews.

During the screening process, I noticed that the company always wanted to find the “most suitable” candidate instead the “best” one.

Working with the human resources department, I had the opportunity to become the interviewer in the onset stage. Before the first interview session, I was nervous about how to ask questions. I wrote down what I should ask and went online to explore more about the questions. The candidate arrived and we went to the interview room to kick off the interview. The interview went on much smooth than I expected. For most interviewers, common questions of self-introduction and reasons for choosing the company were asked. Of course, while some interviewees answered without any hitch, some of them prevaricated with hum and haw. I noticed that the candidates with poor performance were those lacking preparation or those who were nervous and anxious.

Through my experience with CR Group, my internship not only allowed me to gain a better understanding of how to become a “talent scout”, but also to be a good candidate for future job interviews.
