It was quite pressured when I first entered this resort. Andara Resort and Villas considered as a luxury and 5-star paradise for the visitors which meant that everything we provided here supposed to be at the top standard including services. I was worried that there would be some pissy guests as they will have some unreachable requirements. Luckily, I was wrong. Most of the coming guests were so kind and friendly. Some of them even treated me as their new friends and they always express their gratitude to us.

Mr. and Mrs. Vera was one of the families that I remembered the most. They would love to prepare a birthday surprise for their lovely kid Max. They ordered balloons for him and asked for birthday set up in suite room during their breakfast time in restaurant. Our team all amazed by that bunch of balloons since they looked so great and we all gathered together to take photos with those balloons. This was the way that we shared the guests’ joy. I was responsible for the balloons decorations and this was a brand new experience for me. I was helped by the housekeeping team and this surprise was pretty success. We all felt so blessed to witness this warm moment that Max enjoyed a lot of this birthday gift.

I was lucky that my workplace was a front office departmen. Not only did I get in touch with most of the guests in the first time but also some local trainees with outgoing personalities from Thai universities. I have learnt the differences between the Hong Kong teenagers and Thai adolescents as well as the educational system. For instance, the students in Thailand have three semesters in a year, they don’t have long vacations as we do. Therefore, most of them don’t really have chance to travel outside Thailand and their lives are rather stick on studying. Comparatively, we are lucky enough to study in Hong Kong that got much more opportunities to broaden our horizons overseas.

One more thing that I would like to mention is, our office comprises with a few nationalities including Chinese, Hong Kong people, German, Swiss and Thai. I was lucky that I could see that there were quite a lot of differences between us in terms of our languages and working styles as well as the working efficiency. To be concrete, one of oue manager from Hong Kong was pretty much like Hong Kong style, he did everything with fast pace and he was the one that attined the best languaes. Yet, our general manager who is a German, he adapted a relatively slow way as most of the Thai colleagues did. Nonetheless, we can compromise all our working styles among ourselves very well and accept our distinctions between each other to create a harmonious working environment.
