MSRS “Operation Zhang Qian” Alumni Held a Dialogue Session with Mr Lai

Maritime Silk Road Society (MSRS) “Operation Zhang Qian” Alumni Network presented an event entitled ‘A Dialogue with Lai Sir on Study, Career and life’ on 28 November.

The dialogue session was hosted by Mr Lai Tung-kwok, Former Secretary for Security. Mr Lai assumed the post of Secretary for Security in 2012, and dealt with Manila Hostage-taking Incident, Fukushima Nuclear Crisis, the Snowden Incident, Occupy Central, Mong Kok Incident during his five-year term of office. During the dialogue session, Mr Lai shared his views on various facets of life.

While Mr Lai shared his study experience with participants, he reckoned that academic qualifications were not necessarily correlated with work performance. It is of vital importance to gain a thorough understanding of your job duties and be always willing to improve yourself in any and every facet of life.

Mr Lai also narrated some of his stories about working in the Security Bureau. He concluded that the key to success at work was to build a strong team spirit and manage every crisis with high transparency.
