The 3rd AGM of the Maritime Silk Road Society
The Third Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Maritime Silk Road Society (MSRS) was held on 27 August at HKUST Business School Central at Central to adopt the minutes of Second AGM and to receive the 2017-2018 reports of the Executive Committee. The meeting was attended by about 30 members who were Advisors, office bearers of the Board of Honorary Advisory Governors, Executive Committee members and members of the Society, including Dr Wu Shicun, President of National Institute for South China Sea Studies and MSRS Honorary Advisor who flew from Hainan to join the AGM as well as to present a talk on the Belt and Road.
Mrs Regina Ip, Co-Chair of MSRS started off the AGM with her welcoming remarks and reported on seminars, conferences and major meetings; including the “Belt and Road Innovation and Development Forum” held in conjunction with the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Mr Bernard Chan, Co-Chair of MSRS reported on the cultural activities and latest developments of the Society. Mr Roland Wong, Vice-Chair (Development) of the Youth Opportunities Committee (YOC) presented the report on the third “Operation Zhang Qian — Undergraduate Summer Internship Programme”.
During the meeting, Mr Alex Wong, CEO of MSRS, highlighted the incorporation of MSRS to meet challenges and to align with the development of the Society. Ms Wendy Tsang, Executive Director gave a report on the Statement of Comprehensive Income and Expenditure for the year ended on 31 March 2018.
