Visit to "HKT Network Operating Center (NOC)"
On 1 March, by invitation of Hong Kong Telecom (HKT), the Maritime Silk Road Society (MSRS) has organized an exclusive members' guided tour of "HKT Network Operating Center (NOC)" located at Mei Foo, Kowloon.
The tour started with a briefing and exchange session which covered HKT's enterprise background, its global network infrastructure, and its unique management architecture of data centers. Under "Belt and Road", HKT staff demonstrated how Hong Kong, as a renowned information hub and a hyper-connected data highway between China and the world, can facilitate corporate operations through Internet services.
The visit to the state-of-the-art monitoring facility gave participants a rare glimpse on the technologies behind city-wide Internet access, and the intricate system to support and sustain local needs of international network connectivity. The control center is stationed with professional technicians on a 24 x 7 basis with detailed protocols for emergency situations. It was clear from the visit that other than the "quadruple-play" platform of fixed-line, broadband Internet access, TV, and mobile, HKT is invested in prospective smart living services to expand front-end software market.
At the end of visit, Mr Alex Wong, CEO of MSRS presented the Certificate of Appreciation to Mr Charlie Tang, Assistant Vice President of Business Development of Commercial Group in HKT.
MSRS will be organizing more members-only events this year. You are welcome to join us at http://maritimesilkroad.org.hk/en/joinUs/becomeAMember
