Student Visit to the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

To familiarize young people with our nation's diplomatic history, the Maritime Silk Road Society (MSRS) and the Savantas Liberal Arts Academy organised a visit for university and high school students to the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (OCMFA) of the PRC in the HKSAR on 9 July 2016.
Led by Mrs Regina Ip, Co-Chair of MSRS and Chairperson of Savantas Policy Institute, the students were greeted by Ms Cui Ying, Director (Counselor) of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences of OCMFA. After Ms Chui’s introductory speech and Mrs Ip’s remarks, the group was shown a video of OCMFA.
The highlight of the visit was a talk on the “Belt and Road Initiative” and international relations presented by Dr Jiang Zhida, Associate Fellow of the China Institute of International Studies’ Center for New Silk Road Initiative and Executive Editor of “China International Studies” magazine. Dr Jiang made a special trip from Beijing to Hong Kong to share his insights on China's global influence under the “Belt and Road” initiative with the Hong Kong young people.
The afternoon concluded with a tour of OCMFA facilities and a photo exhibition featuring exciting and defining moments of Chinese diplomacy in the past few decades.
